FABulous FLEECE!

All Tied Up...

(see update below...)
Having no projects to occupy me (and being on winter break...so refusal to do school work is a given), I found myself without anything to do with my hands last December.  Hmmmmm, I could sew something! I had never attempted ANY type of sewing project in the past, but that never stopped me before.  Without a plan or a project in mind, I went to the fabric store and wondered.  I ended up not a little intimidated by the types of fabrics, machines, thread, etc. Then I saw it, a new sew blanket in the fleece section.  Eureka! 2 hours and waaaaaaay too much money later, I walked out with enough fleece to make one each for my husband, two kids and mother.  Yeah, I've mentioned before that I'm obsessive, right?

Well, I now LOVE to make these blankets.  I have made a lot of them as gifts, getting more creative as I gained confidence (and speed).  Now I sell them as well, by pure luck and word of mouth.  I haven't started stockpiling fabric at low wholesale prices yet.  As of now, I make them to order, designing the blanket with the customer.  They range from $40 to $80 depending on how intricate the design. I have made two sizes so far: 2 yards for children and 2.5 yards for adults. The sky's the limit on the design!

UPDATE:
Well, got myself and Etsy Store. Yay! Christmas and Graduation time keep me pretty busy with orders through my store, and I'm LOVING IT! Too much fun! I've stopped mass producing blankets, and now I take custom orders only.  I'm having so much fun with this, it's insane.  Seriously.  I'm such a nerd.  I love, love, love to design a piece specifically for an individual, and make a one of a kind blanket that no one else will have. If you are interested or curious, take a gander here.  Hasta!

Email me to talk about the blanket I can make for you!

These are a few of the blankets I've created for friends and family:

for my Sami girl

for my Joey boy

for my hubby, Jeff

for me (I'm a HUGE Texas Rangers fan)

This is the gift that ended up giving me my first sale by word of mouth.  Thank you Marlese!

And these two were my first attempt and getting creative with the back, adding stripes.  I love how they turned out.  These were gifts for two 6th grade boys, so I made them less frilly. They are huge soccer fans, so I designed them to match the colors (and design of the jerseys) of their favorite teams, Liverpool and Club America.
